Absolutely superb!!

Absolutely superb!! Not only is this place a perfect romantic retreat, it's also run by lovely, professional people who pride themselves on making their guests stay perfect. Little touches from the fire and hot tub being lit for us on arrival to a little hamper of goodies, and milk in the fridge. The shepherds hut is cozy and wonderfully romantic. The mattress was the comfiest bed I had ever slept in and the whole place was sparkling clean!!! Set in beautiful surroundings with wonderful walks at your fingertips!! Thank you both!!!!!

2 Night Breakaway

What an amazing 2 nights we spent here for my partners birthday. So beautiful and I can honestly say the best hut we have ever stayed in. It is so peaceful, relaxing and very private. Diane and Martin are so lovely too. I will definitely be recommending this place and most definitely be back again. Thank you for a great 2 days. :)

Highly, highly recommended

We had the good fortune of meeting Diane and Martin, who are lovely, engaging and passionate about their craft. They have put all this into Mallard, which is warm, comfortable and has every level of detail one could wish for. The shepherd’s hut is fantastic, the facilities are more than adequate and the surrounds are stunningly beautiful. The 4 falls walk is a must! A wonderful experience and we will ,like many others who have visited, will be back!

Beautiful, peaceful - perfect

We could not have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate our anniversary, the Mallard was amazing, such a beautiful well thought out hut in fantastic surroundings, the hut was immaculately clean, with great attention to detail such as the the lavender scented pinecones next to the bed. If you can pull yourself away from the hut then we can highly recommend the 4 waterfalls walk. There are some lovely places to eat out locally too. We will be returning!

Perfect rural retreat

Our first break away since January. First time "glamping". We loved it. The countryside is stunning and the personal welcome from Diane & Martin was warm and helpful. Lots of advice on local places too. What impressed even more was the terrific attention to detail that Martin has put in painstakingly over 5 years of loving toil on the Shepherds Hut. It looks exactly as the pictures but the detail and quality of finish surpasses any reasonable expectations. In early September it was warm enough not to use the heating, lots of warm water for lovely showers, great on the sunny and large outside deck, cozy inside at nights. Tv added bonus. There are 3 pubs within close reach on foot or cycle and food in local shops but it was so cozy that we cooked in on 2 evenings. They have plans to add 2 more huts in due course but, until then, it really was just us in seclusion with the main sounds from sheep and ducks. Idyllic.

Great location, great experience!

The facilities were thought about clearly and everything is there. The site is very peaceful and the birds of prey flying overhead were a welcome addition. We enjoyed the hammock and enjoyed a very relaxing few days.

Forgot to say how we loved being welcomed back after dark by the lovely fairy lights from car park to hut. Amazing!

Truly amazing! The hut was recommended by a previous guest and it met and exceeded all our expectations. Such well thought out and high quality space with everything you could want. We loved the feeling of space in the field and watching the red kites above and the bunnies hopping around. Great location for walking and visiting area. Lovely welcoming hosts. Thank you for sharing. We will be back.

Lovely setting and wonderful accommodation!

What a fabulous place to stay - really well equipped shepherds hut!!! Everything you need, great space, privacy and lots of little touches that make it extra comfortable. Really enjoyed the setting - peaceful and lots of kites flying around to watch and also a good base to explore from! Thank you

A little slice of paradise

We stayed at the shepherds hut for 3 nights and it exceeded all our expectations. The hosts were fantastic offering lots of local knowledge and accommodating our needs and they have equipped the hut with all the little extras you need to make your stay feel like you are in a home. The views are outstanding and we came away feeling refreshed and relaxed. Definitely a place we would visit again, thank you.

Can’t believe how good it was!

We had a lovely stay - the hut was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Diane was a great host and it was the perfect location for exploring Brecon Beacons!

Relaxing break

Diane and Martins' shepherds hut is fabulous, really well appointed. Great welcome basket and milk in the fridge. Even though the weather was bad, we enjoyed relaxing reading and watching the Red Kites.

Just amazing!

Had such a fantastic time staying in the beautiful shepherds hut! Diane is such a welcoming host and the hut had everything you could possibly need and more! Lots of places to visit locally- Pen-y-Fan is well worth a climb for the panoramic views and the castles and reservoirs are also worth a visit, although we could have just as easily spent our time soaking up the glorious sun in the hammock and enjoying the views and nature. A real hidden gem which we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

Perfect place for feeling one with the nature!

We were amazed with the interior harmony of the shepherds hut. It was sparkling clean! Diane and Martin thought and put everything that we might need in it. We only had a chance to meet Diane, she was so kind, friendly and helpful. Our stay made us feel reconnected with the nature. It gives lots of options to relax and enjoy the moment. The hammock in the veranda, BBQ, and the beautiful garden. We were lucky enough to see the bunnies in the morning. It was amazing to watch the dance of the kites. We highly recommend it! Can't wait to come again.

Peace and perfect escape from the city.

We loved this sweet, peaceful and perfect hut! Everything is thought of, and is a great escape. We loved the indoor fire, and outdoor fire pit, we had a great BBQ. It has a lovely kitchenette with everything you need to self cater. The bathroom is perfect, with a great shower. We also loved the fact that it is off the grid. We enjoyed the surrounding hikes, especially up Pen-Y-Fan. It is also close to some great local pubs in the villages near by. We will definitely tell others about this perfect escape and be back again!

A gem of a place!

We felt very lucky to be one of the first to stay in this hut. Martin and Dianne have created a little oasis in the Brecon Beacons. The hut is very well designed and beautifully made with very high quality decor and contents - loved the kettle, mugs and fluffy towels! The bathroom and shower are a great bonus. It's set in the corner of it's own field with private decking and an extra patio area (with a magnificent view) for a firepit and BBQ. They have thought of everything! If you can force yourself to leave it's a short walk into both villages where there is a choice of pubs and a shop. As you can tell we loved it and can't wait to return in September!

Perfect private relaxing and beautiful

Spent 2 nights 3 days at this beautifully made hut in such stunning and private surroundings for my birthday. My partner and I had the best time. The balloons,banners, prosecco and marshmallows were a lovely touch after the owners found out the stay was a special occasion.Very much appreciated! Lots of beautiful and scenic things to do nearby. Would highly recommended the four falls walk. Ive also recommended the hut to a few friends.… its defo worth a stay!

Absolute bliss

Absolute bliss - a lovely place to recharge and reconnect with nature (Red Kites, Buzzards, Rabbits, Foxes etc). Diane & Martin have been so welcoming and have outdone themselves on the presentation & quality of their Shepherds Hut. Very sad to be leaving, but will be back.
